Back to school

As classes begin again, all my drama watching time tragically disappears. Even when I do find time to watch my favorite shows, I get distracted and miss important moments. So I haven't been able keep up with very much, but I'm still trying! Bride of the Water God 2017 Hey, look I actually finished something! Actually this is the first drama I've finished since Strong Woman Do Bong Soon back in April. Overall, I thought it was very visually appealing. The color scheme and set design was really nice. So Ah's rooftop house and office are literally my dream. It did feel, however, to be quite hollow. It was pretty, but there wasn't a lot of substance to back it up. And I think that's ironic actually because that's something a lot of people say about the original manwha and yet fans are frustrated at how much was changed. I actually did try to read the manhwa and was a little disappointed. I didn't get past book 2 though, so maybe it gets better? T...

A Slow Recovery

I got wisdom tooth surgery, which served as the perfect opportunity to lie on the couch with my puppy and watch tv for 3 days. I watched as many drama episodes as I could before I fell asleep. And then my week got very hectic with a lot of traveling, but at least I don't look like a chipmunk! Bad Thief, Good Thief As the plot unravels rather quickly, so does my interest. I just finished episode 21 and Pan Soo already knows that Joon Hee is actually Min Jae. Min Jae is fully aware of his father and brother being in his life. Min Jae discovered Dol Mol is J, and so does pretty much everyone else at this point. It feels like the drams is nearing its end since so much has been done and revealed but there are 29 episodes left!? What else is there to be done? And Joon Hee is starting to piss me off a little. Even if he wants to teach Dol Mok a lesson about what being a thief does to your life, arresting him was cruel. And then he blames his dad for not being interested in him u...

I need sleep

The vast and rapid influx of new dramas seems to be calming down lately. And thank god for me because I think if I tried to add anymore at this point, my head would explode. My summer is winding down and I'm running out of time, so here's hoping I can start to catch up with everything I've left behind. Bride of the Water God 2017 Ok I still don't understand Hu Ye's purpose exactly. Is he actually the antagonist? Is he rivaling Habaek as emperor of the god realm? I'm guessing that will come more into focus in the next couple of episodes. I definitely wasn't expecting Bi Ryum's mischievousness to turn so dark. It gives me little bit more appreciation for his character, but he still doesn't really carry the gravity of a god. And Mura most certainly doesn't either. She may look like a goddess, but she's pretty whiny and obnoxious for someone 3,000 years old. I wonder if she'll always stay that way or if she'll have some actua...

When a K-drama fan is super excited but no one in her family understands

Image
I spent a little bit too much time with my family and went on a trip to Canada for a week and half. We planned to spend about 2 days in Quebec City and I was excited for an entirely different reason than everyone else. See, it's not easy for me to visit Seoul, but since I live in New York, it's a lot more reasonable for me to travel to Quebec. And one very substantial drama was filmed in Quebec, Goblin! I went to all the locations I saw in the drama. I went into the Frontenac and was disappointed by the size of the lobby. It was quite small. But I found the letter box where Eun Tak sent herself a letter. Then I hiked all the way up to the park that overlooks the city and sat on the hill to take it all in. There's no gravesite there by the way, everyone should know that. I walked down to the city's wall and the fountain where Kim Shin fell in love with Eun Tak. Finally, I believe that I walked into the Christmas shop where Eun Tak frequented. I can't be certain ...
