Groundhog Day

Winter is coming to an end, finally. I always love the arrival of winter; the first snowfall, holidays, and celebration. But it quickly tires and I yearn for the freedom and mobility that comes with warmer weather. I want this winter, in particular, to end soon. Meanwhile, I've reached as far back as dramas from last May and I'm well on my way to being all caught up. While You Were Sleeping Now that I've finished this, I think I can say that it failed my expectations. I really liked it in the beginning. I thought the drama introduced its characters in an interesting way. And I do think the character and relationship development was the show's strongest point. Each of the 3 main leads (Hong Joo, Jae Chan, and Woo Tak) were complete strangers in the beginning, but by the end they were deeply intertwined in each others' lives. A good deal of that, however, was due to the fact that they dream with each other, which I don't think was explained very well....

Counting Down the Days

Image
These past few weeks, I've done nothing but count down the days until my next break. I hadn't been home in a few months and all of my energy had been drained. I even set a timer on my phone. Now I'm back and I have time to myself and it feels wonderful. Go Back Spouses What!? Since when was this only 12 episodes! I know it's over now and I still have the last episode to watch. This drama flips from heartbreaking to gut busting real fast. I empathize with Jin Joo's conflict in particular. Her own son is in the present, but her mother is only alive in the past. She loves both deeply, but can't be with both at the same time. I know the whole point of her and Ban Do traveling to the past was to learn to appreciate each other properly, but I think the greatest gift was for Jin Joo to be able to spend more time with her mom now that she knows her mom's time on Earth is limited. And she's so protective of that time. Maybe Jin Joo and Ban Do will ge...

Nevermind, I'm in over my head again

I started watching 2 new dramas lately, but they're so good! Honestly, there are a lot of great dramas out right now. And I could try and practice some self control by limiting my drama plate, but then I would think about all the great stuff I'm missing and then I wouldn't be able to focus on anything else.  I think I made the right decision. Age of Youth 2 NOOOOOO it can't be over!! There is so much that has been unresolved. We know now that Sung Min has concrete feelings for Ji Won, he's even acknowledged them.  But he's decided that it's better to keep things the way they are. WHY!? Ji Won has admitted that her relationship with Sung Min might lead to something more, but who knows if she was earnest in this confession. Eun Jae has finally let go of Jong Yeol, or has she? Ye Eun has a long way to go before she's fully recovered. Her family might stunt her recovery forever, actually. Her grandmother asked about her health and said she didn...

On a Roll

Image
I managed to watch a lot of drama episodes recently. I'm not sure what that says about my time management or my priorities, but when things are tumultuous as they have been for me these past couple weeks, you need an escape. While You Were Sleeping I kind of begrudgingly started watching this because I knew it would be really popular just because it stars Suzy and Lee Jong Suk. I thought it would be vastly overrated like Descendants of the Sun. I didn't think I would like it but I really do. Hong Joo and Jae Chan are just so undeniably charming and I absolutely love them together. I also really loved Kim So Hyun's cameo on the show. I love her, she's great in everything she does, and I wish she could have had a more continuous role. And yay for Tae Hee oppa from Goblin (actor Jung Hae In) for finally getting a meatier role in a drama. So basically I just love the entire cast. I'm intrigued that Woo Tak and Jae Chan can see the future through their dream...

Last Drops of Summer

Image
It's so damn hot outside. I just want to feel a breeze while I walk down the street, crunching leaves.  Age of Youth 2 I've watched up to episode 6 with subs and episode 7 without subs. I absolutely loved the first episode. It was such a great transition from the last season to this new one. Second seasons are done so rarely in kdramas, and when they are they are they feel like spin offs or completely different series. This one feels like a true second season, though. Eun makes for an interesting new character, but I do miss Kang unni. I really don't like the new Eun Jae. What exactly is Park Hye Soo doing that she didn't have time for this? With the combination of supposed character development (which went in the wrong direction, if you ask me), and a completely new face, she just feels like a completely different character. I know it's not the actresses' fault, it's the writers'. Also Eun Jae's storyline sucks. In the first season, s...
